Certified Viniyoga Teacher IYAT* Member ![]() Typically this is where people tell you their story. Instead I would like to share 10 things about me. If you'd like to know my yoga story, you can read my blog post by clicking here. 1- My training is with Gary Kraftsow and Mirka Scalco Kraftsow of the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI). I am the only AVI Certified Viniyoga Teacher in the Kansas City area. After completing a 2 year Teacher Training course, I am continuing my study with the AVI in their Yoga Therapist Program. My extensive training has provided me with a large base of knowledge in many different areas of yoga so you can feel confident working with me. 2- I work with people, not pretzels. Many people come to Yoga because they feel stiff and they want to reduce stress. After doing some simple poses and basic breathing, they feel more relaxed and move with greater ease. 3- I grew up in Idaho and met my husband there. But he wasn’t from Idaho, so I don’t live there anymore. 3- My students tell me that I have a soothing voice. (I know that just sounds weird, right?) 4- If you are into yoga because you think it’s an awesome workout, I’m probably not your girl. If you’re looking for a tool to support your physical, energetic, and emotional well being, I’m a good fit for you. The exercise thing just happens to be one of the side effects.
5- I enjoy working with flowers, as in arranging flowers for fun parties and events. FLOWER POWER! (note: flowers don’t do yoga) 6- I tend to be a bit of a princess, but it’s not in a stuck up way, it’s only because I’m trying to take better care of myself by respecting my boundaries. 7- I don’t typically read poetry in class, but I may sing you a song from time to time, because sound can be very powerful. I really enjoy teaching students how to use their voice as a tool to calm and energize themselves. It’s portable stress relief! 8- I have a hairless dog. She has lots of hair. 9- I used to front for a rock band, and was once dubbed “the mysterious vocalist” by a paramedic as he gave me a lift to the hospital (but that’s another story). 10- I enjoy sharing yoga with others. I volunteer my time to work with organizations that empower and inspire people to live better lives by teaching them ways to take better care of themselves. I have taught classes for Camp Bluebird, wellness programs, and local businesses and churches. If you know of a group or organization that you think would benefit from a little yoga, contact me so we can talk about arranging a complimentary presentation or class. *IAYT - International Association of Yoga Therapists |
