~ Trish Elting, CYT, RYT-500 Trish has studied and practiced viniyoga since 2007. Her interest in making yoga accessible to everyone and using yoga as therapy led her to study with world renowned yoga teacher and therapist Gary Kraftsow of the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI). Trish earned her 500-hour yoga teacher certification from AVI in 2009 and is a 500-hour Internationally Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. In 2011, she completed AVI’s 500-hour training program in yoga therapy and is a certified yoga therapist through AVI. Trish has been a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists since 2009. Trish has been teaching yoga since 2008 and practicing yoga therapy with clients since 2010. Her wide base of knowledge in a variety of yoga tools—asana (postures), pranayama (breath practices), sound, and meditation—and additional study in anatomy, physiology, ayurveda, and yoga philosophy aide her in creating practices for students and clients that are highly effective and deeply enriching. She has a profound understanding that yoga is not one size fits all and must be adapted to the needs of each person. In her Olathe studio, Trish specializes in working with individuals to develop personal yoga practices that address their specific needs and goals for better health. In addition to working with adults, Trish has growing experience and expertise in working with special needs children. The practices she creates with her students and clients come in all shapes and sizes from therapeutic to developmental to soothing or spiritual. Along with personalized private sessions, Trish teaches small group classes that allow her to provide individualized attention to each person in the class. She also offers a variety of workshops that bring students into a deeper understanding of yoga principals and teach them how to implement these principals in every day life. Trish maintains her studies and continues to refine her understanding of yoga through her daily personal practice. She has additional training in the lineage of T. Krisnamacharia through his son T.K. V. Desikachar of the Yoga Madrim, Sonia Neilson of the Vedic Chant Center, and Emily Large of Living Large Therapeutics. She has also studied ayurveda with Dr. John Dioulard of Life Spa. Trish attends national yoga conferences regularly and participates in ongoing mentorship with AVI’s Mirka Scalco Kraftsow. She has been an assistant to yoga presenters at Yoga Journal Conferences and other national workshops. Learn more about how Trish got started in Yoga by reading “My Story”. |
