What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy comes from the ancient traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda, a system of traditional medicine native to India. The primary purpose is to provide tools to improve or manage conditions that interfere with daily function and limit the ability to enjoy a full life.

Yoga therapy can help with many conditions.

Musculoskeletal conditions-
- tight or chronically contracted muscles
- muscle weakness
- skeletal misalignment related to chronically contracted muscles
- poor posture

Physiological conditions-
- arthritis
- fibromyalgia
- chronic fatigue syndrome
- auto immune conditions such as Lupus or MS.

Psychological or Emotional conditions-
- anxiety
- depression

“The goal of Viniyoga Therapy is to empower individuals facing health conditions (at any level) to use the tools of Yoga to improve health and well being.”
    ~The American Viniyoga Institute

Personalized yoga therapy practices are developed to address your specific health conditions. A carefully designed yoga practice can help you improve your condition, manage your symptoms, and increase your sense of well-being.

Yoga therapy can also be helpful with:

-Relieving chronic or occasional pain in any area of the body, such as the back, neck, or shoulders
-Increasing self awareness and understanding
-Recovering from injuries and illness
-Providing a means for self care
-Reducing stress-related issues such as tension, insomnia, headaches

“There is an ancient and authentic tradition of Yoga Therapy. The ancient model mirrors the true multidimensionality of the human system and offers methods for restoring wellness founded on the
integration of these dimensions.”
    ~Gary Kraftsow

Yoga therapy strives to integrate all the levels of our being physical, physiological, and emotional by addressing the whole person, not just the symptoms of the condition. For more information on how Yoga therapy can help you, give me a call.
